Nova Elderberry

Sambucus canadensis 'Nova'

Nova is an easy-care addition to your edible landscape. Slightly shorter than many S. canadensis varieties, it's a great choice for smaller or urban gardens. Wide clusters of creamy white flowers appear in spring.  If left on the bush, the flowers develop into bountiful bunches of tender, deep purple berries used in jams, jellies, pies, and wines. Syrup made from elderberry is said to stimulate the immune system. Native to North America, these fast-growing bushes also appeal to our wild friends, like bees and hummingbirds, as a food source. Wind pollinated.

USDA Zone: 3-9

Grow Height:  6' (Medium)

Sun: Full Sun

Ripening Time: Late Summer

Pollination: Partially Self Fertile
